Simple, Feel-Goods

October 2, 2009

Happy almost Friday lovelies.

The week has finally winded down and I must say whew, it sure has been a busy one. Wednesday night I took my first Managerial Economics exam and overall, it went pretty well. This class is known to really get the gears working in your brain. I’m so jealous of  Courtney who completed it last spring!

The weather in Gainesville has dropped down to a cool 80 degrees which is very exciting. Any “cold front” is a perfect excuse for Floridians to swap out their tank top wardrobe for furry hooded jackets and Ugg Boots. ;)

On the “food front,” this week I’ve  focused on using fresh and simple ingredients. For the few months remaining in 2009, my goal is to live simply and eat simply. Each day I’m going to find a simple, feel-good and then tweet about it. For example, yesterday’s simple, feel-good was seeing pumpkins for sale at the grocery store.

Peach Nonfat Chobani Greek Yogurt

Review: This was my first time trying Chobani Greek Yogurt because well, I’ve always been a Stonyfield kind of girl. ;) Overall, their Greek yogurt tasted just ok. I was kind of disappointed in the subtle fruity flavor and that the peach chunks were so small. For a 6oz cup, the 14 grams of protein were impressive but the 19 grams of sugars weren’t. I would buy these again though!

What’s your favorite brand of Greek Yogurt?

I like Chobani for flavors but Oikos for thickness.

Scones sandwich is genius! I never would have thought of using them like that- is there nutritional info for the scones?

Greek… I can only get Fage here. Plain of the honey twin pot. I’ll try Chobani and Oikos when I am in the US.

Everytime I come to your blog I smile- LOOOOOVE the new look!

HUmmm don’t think I’m too picky about what brand I get! Your Breakie sure looks good though :)

I love how 80 degrees is a cool down. It’s 40 degrees this morning here in Iowa.
Garlic shrimp and caesar salad loos so good!
Haven’t tried Peach Chobani, but love the pineapple and pom flavors!

I love your idea of a ‘feel-good food’, I might have to steal your idea – I feel like I could use a tasty pick-me-up today ;) That sandwich looks delish! Anything with veggie patties and sweet potato involved is always good :P

I love Oikos! Chobani is awesome too – alright, ALL Greek yogs is pretty impressive ;)

    Happy Friday!
    Love,
    Meg!

Oikos is my favorite Greek Yogurt. Of course I’ve never tried Chobani because my stores don’t carry it!

Sweet potato scone sandwich!? That sounds amazing!

I’m a true chobani girl, but have recently been lovin’ oikos plain greek yogurt-it’s cheaper, and not too thick!

80*F!??? Seriously, girl, you want to share that beautiful weather with this tortured soul in 45*F weather??? Haha, I’m so jealous right now. :)

I completely agree with you on the Chobani. I was really impressed by the protein, but the sugar is exceptionally high. The fruit tasted a bit syrupy and somewhat processed, which I didn’t like. However, their plain variety is quite good if you still want to give it a chance! Even so, I’m still an Oikos and Fage girl all the way. Those two are so different, but both equally delicious.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

recently I’ve been getting really in to Brown Cow greek yogurt — but I have to say I love ‘em all.. I don’t discriminate :) I do wish oikos had as many flavvvvvs as the chobani! speaking of which, I still have to track down the pineapple!

I love your pumpkin yogurt combination! My favorite Greek Yogurt is probably 2% Fage.

  11. October 3, 2009 3:06 pm

Yum! My favorite Greek yogurt is the Greek Gods brand. Perfection in a yogurt container.

Shannon… I seriously think I just need to move in with you (that College Lifestyles loft sure would come in handy…). You always have the best food. That sandwich and shrimp salad look SO good!

80′s=cold front?! Try 30′s lol! I would kill to be livin’ in your weather. :-) And I loove your idea of eating simply–so often we make meal planning and such so complicated it can take away from the pure joy of eating! Hope your weekend was relaxing!

Mmm a scone sandwich–greatest idea yet! Those shrimpies look succulent!

My favorite brand of greek yogurt is still Fage I think… Voskos new greek yogurt is really good though too! Chobani is just ok, but has a bit of an aftertaste to me.

The new blog looks great! Very ascetically appealing. I’m so happy to see your pumpkin recipe! I’ve been looking for a way to incorporate pumpkin in my meals. I love FAll because it’s pumpkin season!!

I’m a Chobani fan…my favorite flavor is the strawberry! Check that one out
