Adventures at Home

October 27, 2009

Hi friends!

First off, I’d like to thank you all SO much for your kind words, amazing recipes, and participation in the Healthy, Tail Waggin’ Treats Giveaway and Fundraiser. It means SO much to me to seeĀ  how excited you all are about this great cause. The un-adopted cats and dogs at the Alachua County Humane Society sure do appreciate all of your support!

After reading through your wonderful recipes, I must admit I am a little antsy about waiting to pick the giveaway winners! Therefore, I may end the giveaway a few days early. You have all exceeded my expectations and more for this virtual cookbook!!!!

To continue the round of thanks, ;) I’d also like to thank Jen, for sending me this package that contained a very fun treat a few days ago.

Naturally Nutty Cinnamon Cherry Peanut Butter that I won from her giveaway!

This peanut butter looks and sounds so interesting and I can’t wait to review it.

To keep you all updated on my adventures, last weekend I was able to go home for the first time all semester! After three months, I was so excited to finally see my family and hyper-active golden retriever, Sammie. Now whenever I go home, my mom and I love to visit the local marina that looks out over Tampa Bay. It’s so much fun to watch all of the fisherman baiting their hooks, the little fiddler crabs dancing along the shore, and the pelicans waiting patiently for fish to swim beneath them.

Can you spot the sea creature in the water below?

It’s a giant Manta Ray! It was so funny because while we were peering over the boardwalk, a little Blue Crab crawled right next to the manta ray. That is one brave little crab. ;) I wouldn’t step near that thing!

Thank you all again for your support in the giveaway and fundraiser. The cookbook should be completed by November 3rd at the latest. All of your recipes sound so delicious and I can’t wait to get busy in the kitchen making them.

Have a happy and safe Halloween everyone! Remember it’s only one night, so go ahead and treat yourself to your favorite Halloween candy. My favorite is candy corn! I’ll be spending my Halloween weekend in Jacksonville, FL for the Florida vs. Georgia football game. I’ll be sure to take a lot of pictures and share them with you. :)

Looked like a nice day to be down at the marina. What a big ray! Haven’t seen any here, but I know there are some crazy eels lurking in our waters. Glad you had such a great response for your cookbook and fundraising efforts.

Omgosh–that PB sounds ridiculously good! My fav Halloween candy is by far candy corn as well. Get to Target to buy a bag of their pumpkin pie candy corn–so addicting!
