From the Land Where Palm Trees Sway…

“…here we know that Christmas will be green and bright. The sun to shine by day and all the stars at night.”

Hi friends! It’s winter time in Florida and those tropical Christmas lyrics are from ‘Mele Kalikimaka’ (Hawaiian Christmas Song) by Bing Crosby. I know I’m not in Hawaii, but the lyrics always remind me of the Christmas season in Florida.

Mother Nature sure has been a lot nicer to us than some of our friends in the Northeast. There is so much snow out there! I’ve only seen snow about three times in my life, and each of those times it snowed only a couple inches or so. Those snow flurries sure were exciting though! It’s a little embarrassing, but when the temperature drops into the 70′s, that is sweater weather to me.

Yesterday, my mom and I made a trip to our favorite local produce stand, Orange Blossom Groves. They changed the name of the location a few years ago to Citrus Country Groves, but the old name has always stuck.

In addition to the bountiful arrangement of fresh produce, Orange Blossom Groves also has a lot of Salt Water Taffy and funky knick-knacks throughout their store.

They also have amazing orange soft serve ice cream, but this time, a specialty flavor caught my eye…. Eggnog Ice Cream!

The ice cream was so good! Eggnog ice cream is definitely my new favorite treat. :) Now it’s time to go buy groceries and start my Christmas shopping.

At what temperature do you start feeling cold? Mine is the high 70s!

Gahh this makes me super jealous – I’m currently trapped inside under 25 inches of snow :P or more! Haha, oh well – I can look at your pictures and feel better. I love the little knick-knacks, how adorable!

Hope you’re having a beautiful holiday week :)
    Love,
    Meg

AHH looks wonderful there in the Sunshine State! I will be making my way to FL come February. I agree though 70 degrees is “sweater weather” and once it gets to the low 60′s 50′s I move to my winter Jacket! Last night-today we got record breaking 1.5 feet of snow!! AHH That store looks like so much fun!! Enjoy the Sunshine girl! <3

I have to admit, I’d take your sunny weather over this crazy snow anyday!!! It just doesn’t stop here in Wisconsin. And yes, we will have piles of snow until the end of May. It’s CRAZY!

Haha, I totally agree with you on the cold. I thrive in mid-80*F weather!

Oh my goodness…I want, no NEED, that egg nog ice cream!! Care to send some my way?!? ;)

Funny you should say you feel cold mid 70s. I lived in vegas for 5 years and in the summer when it went from 120-130 during the day to 90s at night, I wore sweats at night to walk the dog since I found it to be very cold out. The temp might be warm, but it is the temp difference that you really feel. If it cools 40 degrees, you feel cold at 90. Or at least I do! Glad you are enjoying the warm weather.

Right now we’re at about uhhhh zero? :P I get cold around 30….But i can eat ice-cream any time any day, no matter what temperature it is outside! hahah
