Manatees at the Marina

March 11, 2010

Happy Spring Break everyone! Last Thursday, I packed up my bags and headed south on the interstate for a week of R&R at home with the family.

It’s been extremely peaceful so far! Yesterday, I went on an hour long run/walk on a trail that runs parallel to Tampa Bay.

My new Nike’s!

I never leave the house without my Road ID! Safety first, folks. ;)

I ran for about two miles and then veered off the side of road to visit the local marina. The road was chalked up with a seahorse, octopus, and other ocean creatures that a very talented artist drew over the weekend during the Safety Harbor Seafood Festival. How neat! I’d love to have these designs or at least the vibrant colors painted on the walls of my house one day.

Next, I walked out onto the rickety wooden boardwalk that overlooks the bay.

Can you believe I saw 2 manatees?!

Apparently the manatees feed around 11:00am every day, so if you’re ever in the area, stop by and see them! :)

Tomorrow, I’m leaving on a cruise for the rest of the week. :) The location… I’ll reveal in a post next week, so get excited for that! I’ve never been on a cruise before and I cannot wait! Hopefully the weather is absolutely perfect and my friends and I don’t get motion sickness.

Have a great weekend!
